Tuning into your body requires resting between exercises. Yin yoga calls it “rebound,” but most other exercise disciplines cue a similar moment of rest or pause.

If you want to be more in tune with your body, you need to use that time to, well, tune into your body.

Lay down.

Literally.

And ask yourself some questions:

* do I feel a change in my body? Yes or no?

* what does it feel like? Can I put words to that change? Yes or no? If you can’t, that’s ok…that’s also helpful data. If you can, what words are those?

* is the change in the area you expected? What does it feel like one joint up? What does it feel like one joint down?
