Think happy, be happy, act happy. “Everyone” knows that….right?
We are culturally obsessed with pumping up positive thinking mantras by way of yoga class and Insta. Say enough positive thinking lines enough time and you will be a totally positive and happy person….right?
I’m by no means suggesting being Grumpy Cat. But where did the idea that we have to be “happy” all the time come from? How can you be happy unless you have other feelings too? (And isn’t there positive value in some of those other feelings? Hang out with a small child, and they are letting all the feels happen).
So turn down your mantras MP3 and read this…because it turns out there are actually some downsides to all the positive thinking.
