My girlfriend just sent me a video for an online workout that’s “launching soon”. Cue: sporty dance music, tiny booty shorts, hair flipping and promises of a “dancer’s body”.
Don’t fall for fitness lies.
12 years ago, my trainer Josh, at Totum Life Science shared some wise fitness words: “to get the kind of body you want, you have to train the way they do.”
Do you agree that you aren’t going to look like Selena Williams by doing a 60 minute class to “get a tennis player’s body”?
Even that sentence is ridiculous, isn’t it?
You aren’t going to get a tennis player’s body in a “tennis body class”.
You aren’t going to get a tennis player’s body by buying a cute tennis skirt. Or by flipping your hair.
And there’s no such thing as getting a tennis player’s body “in just 30 minutes a day.”
Tennis players “get” their bodies by having good genetics, and a doing lot of hard work. And you aren’t going to get a tennis player’s body by doing anything other than playing tennis.
So when you find what you LOVE to do, you will want to do more of it, and your vision of the “body of your dreams” will start to align with the efforts and actions you want to put into it.
And if that’s the hair flipping class, that’s on you. 😉
